about

I'm not gonna lie. Many people gave me a hard time for writing this song. But when this team and this coach started changing the way that football was played, I took notice.

When this team then felt the sting of hate from so much of the country, I got a bit angry.

Now we have much to prove and I just wanted to add my part.

I wanted to let people know that I still believe in them.

This is our love for New England expressed in honor of Wesley Carter Welker and William Stephen Belichick, the heart and brain behind a team that changed the game.

Much love goes out to William Hileman for helping make sure that I didn't mess up the football terms too much and for infecting me with a love for this team.

Patriots' Day

A general stands near the line of scrimmage
a grey hood hangs over his head
his face gives away no indications
his emotions go unread

Tom looks out at Branch and Welker
I wonder if they'll pass or run
It could be
first down in the first quarter
or forth down in the last one

Patriots' Day
We walk on the field
one team, one name

Patriots' Day
We listen to the coach
he says to focus on this one game

and they hate us from envy
they laugh when we bleed
but they don't have the coach
and they'll never concede

That the game's about more
than the hype or the flash
We don't live in the fame
The fame doesn't last

We live in New England
With a sense of the past

We punt it and touchback to 20
7 points behind just to tie
the defense assures us its plenty
4th quarter, 2 minutes alive

Mayo, Guyton and Wilfork
I wonder if they'll blitz the line
If they get us possession by 1:20
I see a 2 point conversion arise

Patriots' Day
We walk on the field
one team, one name

Patriots' Day
We listen to the coach
he says to focus on this one game

and they hate us from envy
they laugh when we bleed
but they don't have the coach
and they'll never concede

That the game's about more
than the hype or the flash
You can't live in the fame
We don't live in the past

We live in New England
With a sense of the past

The Heartsleeves Boston, Massachusetts

Neo Eclectic, Soul Reflected, Sounds From Real Life!

Born in the glory and pageant of the noble working cities of Boise, Cleveland, Schenectady, Boston and Syracuse, "The Heartsleeves" is the voice of the no frills sincerity of real world American life.

We write our songs live, and refine them into a melancholy powder of sweet painful regret and sprinkle it on hearty soul pop.
